This year, the third grade students read the story Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. The story is about a boy who is flattened by a bulletin board and is then able to go on adventures around the world in an envelope.

As part of their studies of communities and map skills, the students created flat paper dolls of themselves and sent them to friends or relatives in hopes of going on their own adventures. The host family was asked to take the Flat Student to see the sights of their town, write in the student’s travel journal, and email the school with updates and pictures of their adventures. The emails and pictures are shown on this blog for all to enjoy.
